Scan to PDF

Scan to PDF for Android — package com.nexperlabmedia.scanpdf

Effective date: 2026-09-11 · Last updated: 2026-09-15

At a glance

This app scans paper documents and turns them into PDF files. It has no account, no login and no developer-operated server. Scanning and PDF creation happen on your device, and the resulting files are kept in the app's private storage until you share or export them yourself. Google AdMob and Google Play Billing are the only third parties involved. Version 1.1.0 adds optional on-device text recognition for each scan, an invisible text layer in the PDFs you export, and a “recently deleted” area that holds a deleted document for 30 days before it is removed for good. None of it needed a new permission, and none of it involves a server.

Data sent to the developerNone. The developer operates no server for this app.
Account or sign-inNone.
Local dataScanned page images and PDF files in the app's private folder, the recognised text of each document stored next to it, a local index (document name, page count, dates), the list of recently deleted documents, and your settings
Photos / camera framesStored in the app's private directory scans/. Not added to the gallery, not readable by other apps.
Recognised textOptional, on by default, and produced entirely on the device by Google ML Kit. It is written to a text.json file beside the document in the app's private storage and used for in-app search and for the invisible text layer of exported PDFs.
Third partiesGoogle AdMob (banner and interstitial ads) and Google Play Billing (the ad-free purchase). No analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK.
Permissions declaredCAMERA, AD_ID, BILLING, INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*

1. What the app stores on your device

Scanned pages and the PDF built from them are written into the app's private documents directory, in a folder named scans, alongside an index.json listing each document's name, page count and dates. That folder belongs to the app alone: other apps cannot read it, it does not appear in your gallery, and it is removed when the app is uninstalled. Your settings and the ad-free purchase and consent state are stored with shared_preferences in the same private storage. None of it is transmitted to the developer.

Version 1.1.0 writes two more things into that same private scans folder. When text recognition is on, the words found on each page — and where they sit on the page — are written to a text.json file inside that document’s own folder, so the text lives next to the document it came from and is deleted with it. Deleting a document no longer removes it immediately: it moves to a hidden .trash folder inside the same private directory, listed in trash.json, and is erased for good 30 days later (see the retention section). All of this is app-private storage on this device; nothing is transmitted to the developer.

2. Camera and photos

Capture and page detection use the Google ML Kit document scanner, which runs entirely on the device through Google Play services: the pages are processed locally and are not sent to Google or to anyone else for recognition. Google Play services downloads the scanner module to your device once (the manifest asks for it at install time). On a device where that module is unavailable, the app falls back to a plain capture through the Android system picker (camera or an existing image), which hands the app only what you choose. The camera permission is requested at the moment you first capture.

3. Text recognition (OCR)

After a scan the app can read the words on each page so that the document becomes searchable. This is optional — a switch in Settings, on by default, which you can turn off — and it is done entirely on your device by Google ML Kit text recognition (Latin script). No page image and no recognised word is uploaded, neither to the developer nor to Google. The manifest asks Google Play services to fetch the scanner and recognition modules at install time (com.google.mlkit.vision.DEPENDENCIES = document_scanner,ocr); that is a model coming down to the phone and it carries nothing of yours upward.

What is done with the result stays local as well:

  • The words and their positions are stored in the document’s own text.json, inside the app’s private storage, and are used for search inside the app.
  • When you export a PDF, those words are drawn into it as an invisible text layer — placed over the scan, rendered in invisible mode — so a PDF reader can select and search the text of a picture. The layer is built on the device by the app itself. It is limited to characters the PDF’s built-in font can represent; text outside that range is left out of the layer, while the app’s own search still uses the full recognised text.
  • Turning recognition off stops new scans from being read. Recognised text already stored stays with its document and is deleted when that document is deleted.

4. What the app does not collect

The app does not request or read your name, email address, phone number, contacts, messages, calendar, location, or any file outside the places described above. It has no account system, no sign-in and no cloud sync, and it contains no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. Apart from the requests the advertising and billing SDKs make, the app makes no network request of its own.

Three permissions are deliberately not requested and appear nowhere in the app's manifest: RECORD_AUDIO (the microphone), READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (legacy shared-storage access). The app never records audio, and it reaches shared storage only through the system pickers, which need no permission.

Version 1.1.0 added no permission: recognition runs inside the app on files it already holds. The manifest additionally strips READ_MEDIA_IMAGES and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO with tools:node="remove", so the picker libraries cannot merge them in either. The installed package declares only CAMERA, AD_ID and BILLING, plus what the advertising and billing SDKs merge in.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob) and consent

The app shows a banner ad and, occasionally after a completed action, a full-screen interstitial through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To serve and measure those ads, Google may process your device's advertising ID (AD_ID), coarse device and network information, and ad interaction events. This happens inside Google's SDK; the developer does not see or store that data, and nothing you capture, scan or store in the app is given to it.

  • Google's handling of that data: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and the Google Privacy Policy
  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app shows a Google-certified consent message (Google User Messaging Platform, UMP) before personalised ads are used. You can reopen it later from Settings → Privacy settings and change your choice.
  • You can reset or delete the advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising on the device.

6. Ad-free purchase

A one-time in-app purchase (scan_pdf_premium) removes the ads. The purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing: the developer never receives your card number, billing address or any other payment detail, and sees only Play's aggregated sales reports. The app stores locally whether the purchase is active, so ads stop showing. Restoring the purchase on another device is handled by your Google Play account.

7. Permissions

The app declares android.permission.CAMERA (the camera), com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID and com.android.vending.BILLING itself. The rest are merged in automatically by the libraries it uses:

  • INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID / ATTRIBUTION / TOPICS — merged in by the Google Mobile Ads SDK, to fetch and measure ads
  • com.android.vending.BILLING — the ad-free in-app purchase, handled by Google Play

8. Sharing and export

A finished PDF leaves the app only when you ask. Share writes nothing new: the existing PDF is handed to Android's share sheet, where you choose the destination app. Save to device opens Android's own save dialog (the Storage Access Framework), and the file is copied to the folder you pick — which is why the app needs no storage permission. The developer receives no copy.

An exported PDF carries the invisible text layer described above when recognition produced text for that document. That text is part of the file you share, so it travels with the PDF wherever you send it — which is the point of the feature, and worth knowing before you share a scan of something sensitive.

9. Automatic backup

The manifest does not disable Android backup (allowBackup="true"). Under Android's default behavior, eligible local data may be copied to your own Google-account device backup. The developer cannot access or control that copy. What is actually backed up depends on your device, vendor and Android version.

10. How long data is kept, and how to delete it

Documents remain until you delete them in the app; deleting a document removes its PDF and page files. Settings also offer a cache clear. Clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, removes all local data. PDFs you exported to your own folders are yours and are not touched by uninstalling.

Since 1.1.0 deletion has two steps. Deleting a document moves it to recently deleted, a hidden folder in the app’s own private storage; it no longer appears in your library but its files are still on the device. You can restore it from there, delete it for good yourself, or empty the whole area at once. Otherwise the app erases an entry — its pages, its PDF and its recognised text — 30 days after you deleted it, which it checks whenever the library is loaded. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling removes the recently-deleted area too.

11. Children

The app is not directed to children and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

If the app's permissions, SDKs or data practices change, this page and its “last updated” date will be revised.

Scan to PDF (Android) — 패키지 com.nexperlabmedia.scanpdf

CAMERA, AD_ID, BILLING, INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*

매니페스트는 설치 시점에 스캐너·인식 모듈을 미리 받도록 요청한다(com.google.mlkit.vision.DEPENDENCIES = document_scanner,ocr).

세 가지 권한은 의도적으로 요청하지 않으며 앱 매니페스트에 아예 없다: RECORD_AUDIO(마이크), READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(구형 공용 저장소 접근).

매니페스트는 READ_MEDIA_IMAGES와 READ_MEDIA_VIDEO도 tools:node="remove"로 잘라내어 선택기 라이브러리가 병합해 넣지 못하게 한다.

7. 권한

앱이 직접 선언하는 것은 android.permission.CAMERA(카메라), com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, com.android.vending.BILLING이다.

  • INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID / ATTRIBUTION / TOPICS — Google Mobile Ads SDK
  • com.android.vending.BILLING — 광고 제거 인앱 구매용. Google Play가 처리한다

Scan to PDF (Android) — パッケージ com.nexperlabmedia.scanpdf

CAMERA, AD_ID, BILLING, INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*

マニフェストはインストール時にスキャナーと認識のモジュールを取得させる (com.google.mlkit.vision.DEPENDENCIES = document_scanner,ocr)。

次の 3 つの権限は意図的に要求せず、マニフェストにも存在しない: RECORD_AUDIO(マイク)、READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE、WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(旧来の共有ストレージ)。

マニフェストは READ_MEDIA_IMAGES と READ_MEDIA_VIDEO も tools:node="remove" で削除し、ピッカー系ライブラリがマージできないようにしている。

買い切りのアプリ内購入 (scan_pdf_premium) で広告が消える。

7. 権限

アプリ自身が宣言するのは android.permission.CAMERA(カメラ)、com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID、com.android.vending.BILLING である。

  • INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID / ATTRIBUTION / TOPICS — Google Mobile Ads SDK
  • com.android.vending.BILLING — 広告除去のアプリ内購入用。

Scan to PDF

Scan to PDF para Android — paquete com.nexperlabmedia.scanpdf
